Our church community welcomes you to this website, and invites you to visit Christ Church Vienna when possible. Our doors are open for you on Sundays from 8 a.m. until after midday, on Tuesday until Friday from 9.30 a.m. until 4 p.m, and on Saturday from 9.30 until midday. Christ Church Vienna is an English-speaking family of about 500 Christians from many nations. We represent in Austria the Anglican Communion, a worldwide network which includes Church of England, Anglican, Episcopal and similar churches in Britain, the United States, Nigeria, Canada, Australia, India and a further 165 countries. Our doors are naturally also open to all people seeking to walk more closely with God in their daily lives, and make new personal contacts.
The regular main Service of Worship to God is from 10 - 11.15 on Sunday mornings. The linked Services shows details of the main Sunday and other Services. More than 130 people assemble regularly on Sunday mornings under the guidance of a priest to praise God with music and the spoken word, to pray together, to examine the word of God, and share the Peace and Holy Communion (Lord's Table/Eucharist) during the focal point of the Service. Any visitor who takes Communion in another Christian church, irrespective of denomination, is welcome to take Communion with us.
In addition, we value highly the social and informal nature of our community. After the main Service on Sunday mornings, there is a "meeting hour" with coffee, biscuits and informal discussions in our Christ Church Centre. This provides newcomers and visitors with an opportunity to exchange news and ask further questions. Our Centre also pemits us to offer excellent facilities for children both during Services and at other times. There is a thriving Sunday School.
Special features: Visitors are welcomed quietly and sincerely. Newcomers have interesting possibilities to join in various activities such as the choir, Sunday School, Christ Church Shop, discussion groups, and the annual Bazaar. The church building is owned by the Church of England, but further facilities have been created thanks to the community efforts of the Christ Church Support Association. Christ Church Vienna is completely self-financing, and receives no funding from any official sources.
